Our objective

The objective of the Better Regulation Council is to scrutinise the quality of, and issue opinions on, regulatory impact assessments of proposals that may have significant effects on businesses.

  • Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year

    The Swedish Regulatory Council has had its last regular meeting of the year. The first meeting in 2026 is on January 7. Now it is time for the Christmas break and recovery before a new year and continued work on simplifying for companies. We now wishes you a Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year!

  • Paul Mollerup summarizes RegWatchEurope activities in 2025

    In 2025, the Danish Business Regulation Forum (DBRF) has led the work in RegWatchEurope (RWE), a network of independent scrutiny bodies, where the Swedish Better Regulation Council is a member. We talked to Paul Mollerup, chair of DBRF, who gives some highlights of the activities in 2025 and some reflections for the coming year.

  • EU conference shows the need to improve quality of evaluations

    The Regulatory Scrutiny Board (RSB) of the European Commission presented at its annual scrutiny conference the results of its latest annual report, which this year focuses on ex post evaluations. RSB notes that the quality of Commission evaluations reached an all-time low in 2024.
