The objective of the Better Regulation Council is to scrutinise the quality of, and issue opinions on, regulatory impact assessments of proposals that may have significant effects on businesses.

- It has been a year of change, as a new ordinance for impact assessment came into effect along with a new role for the Regulatory council and two new councils to collaborate with. The Council has a positive view of these changes and what they represent for the regulatory improvement and simplification work.

Swedish Better Regulation Council’s annual report 2024
The trend over time shows that the proportion of acceptable impact assessments has increased, although no significant progress has been noted in recent years. The proportion of acceptable impact assessments for all groups of regulators has varied in recent years between just over 50 per cent and up to 67 per cent. It can also be noted that the SBRC has issued opinions in more cases in recent years.
