RegwatchEurope presents its position paper A Smart Agenda for the New European Commission

The 10th of September The Swedish Better Regulation Council together with its four counterparts in RegwatchEurope organised a breakfast seminar at the European Parliament in Brussels. At the seminar, RegwatchEurope presented its newly written position paper adressed to the new European Commission.  In the position paper, RegwatchEurope welcomes and encourage the ambition stated by the chair of the European Commission Mr. J.C Juncker to continue and enhance the work with Smart Regulation. Among several recommendations put forward in the position paper two where that:

  • The overall regulatory burden faced by business, in particular small and medium sized businesses, needs to be adressed
  • Embed the expertise of an independent advisory body to assess the quality of European impact assessments

Participating at the breakfast seminar  and the discussions on how the agends for Smart Regulation should be developed were RegwatchEurope together with around ten members of Parliament, civil servants of the European Parliament and the European Commission, Business Europe and other representatives from various business organisations
