Yesterday the President of the EU Commission Barroso visited the High Level Group meeting for administrative costs. The Council’s chairman Karin Lindell, standing next to Mr Barroso, attended the meeting. The meeting stressed the importance of an independent external review of Commission impact assessments from Regulation Council and the other councils in Germany and England. Barroso said that the Commission’s Impact Assessment Board should not become an external agency when there is a risk that its independence and neutrality upset. President Barroso also told that the Commission in early October, will introduce a number of measures under its Refit program.
